The Goo Goo Dolls Make Triumphant Return to New Year’s Rockin’ Eve — 30 Years Later

It’s been 30 years since the Goo Goo Dolls last took the stage on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve — and this year, John Rzeznik and Robby Takac are set to make a powerful comeback at the iconic Times Square celebration.

The beloved ’90s rock band, best known for anthems like “Iris” and “Slide,” will join a star-studded lineup on December 31, 2025, performing as part of the beloved countdown to 2026.

“Our New Year’s Energy is Hope”

In a recent Instagram video shared just days before the ball drop, the duo reflected on their favorite moments of 2025 and the upcoming performance. Sitting down in what felt like a warm, reflective conversation, Rzeznik said simply, “My New Year’s energy is hope.”

Takac, meanwhile, added with a smile, “It was definitely more alcohol-fueled a couple decades ago. This time, I think it’s just good wishes for the new year.”

Throwback to 1995 with Dick Clark

Rzeznik recalled their last New Year’s Eve performance, saying, “We did it 30 years ago when Dick Clark was still hosting it.” He went on to praise the late TV legend for his warmth and kindness. “He actually stopped at a supermarket and got us a bag of Goo Goo Clusters and brought them to us,” Rzeznik said with a laugh, as throwback photos played in the background of the clip.

A Star-Studded 2025 Lineup

This year’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve is hosted by Ryan Seacrest, with co-hosts Rita Ora, Chance the Rapper, Rob Gronkowski, and Julianne Hough.
