Annie Lennox, one of music’s most influential and distinguished voices, has passed her incredible talent on to her daughter Lola Lennox Fruchtmann, a rising singer-songwriter forging her own artistic path. Though Lola is the daughter of a global icon, she chose not to rely on her lineage. Instead, she trained formally, studying voice at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London, before debuting her career with her single “In the Wild” in February 2020.
A defining moment in Lola’s early journey came on April 18, 2020, during the worldwide Covid-19 relief event One World: Together at Home. Annie and Lola performed a heartfelt rendition of the Eurythmics classic “There Must Be An Angel”, their voices blending beautifully as mother and daughter shared a rare and emotional duet.
They reprised the performance on December 1, 2021, for World AIDS Day at the Mothers2Mothers HIV-support charity’s 20th-anniversary gala in London — a reminder of their shared commitment to humanitarian causes as well as their deep musical connection.
Their performance that night was especially moving. Annie’s legendary, soulful power — the very voice often hailed as one of the finest of her generation — was on full display, while Lola’s warm and emerging sound added freshness and charm. Though still developing her own unique artistry, Lola proved she possesses both the talent and emotional depth to build a remarkable career.
The video also highlights Annie’s elegant piano playing, adding a layer of intimacy to the performance. Their final harmonies reflect not only musical chemistry, but the unmistakable pride Annie feels in sharing the stage with her daughter.
Mother and daughter have collaborated on several occasions, including Lola’s beautifully arranged single “Wherever You Go” performed with the BBC Concert Orchestra. The duet earned praise for its seamless blend of voices and touching emotional resonance.
Annie’s move to Los Angeles in 2020 with her husband Mitch Besser brought her closer to both Lola and Tali Lennox, strengthening their family ties and allowing more opportunities for musical collaboration. Lola has expressed deep gratitude for her mother’s guidance — from offering insights during studio sessions to helping bring her demos to life.
Influenced by legendary singers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone, Lola continues to build her own identity in music. With her mother’s wisdom, support, and artistry beside her, she is carving a path that honors the past while boldly stepping into the future.
