Johnny Depp Joins Alice Cooper On Stage to Honor Ozzy Osbourne in Powerful Tribute
In an unforgettable night of rock and remembrance, Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance on stage at Alice Cooper’s concert at London’s O2 Arena to honor the late, great Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 76.
The emotional tribute took place on Friday night, just days after the world learned of Ozzy’s passing — a loss that has deeply shaken the rock community. The legendary “Prince of Darkness” had performed his final show with Black Sabbath only weeks prior, marking the end of an era for one of rock’s most iconic voices.
“Let’s Hear It for Ozzy!”
Alice Cooper and Depp — longtime friends and bandmates in the Hollywood Vampires — delivered a powerful rendition of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid.” As Depp took the stage, guitar in hand and cigarette in mouth, the crowd erupted in cheers. Cooper shouted to the crowd, “Let’s hear it for Ozzy!” before launching into a medley of Sabbath hits in a tribute that brought the house to its feet.
Earlier in the week, Cooper had dedicated his show in Cardiff to Ozzy, expressing just how much the rock legend meant to the music world. On stage in London, he opened up about the magnitude of the loss: “Well, we all know that time is going to take us rockers, but when the giants fall, it’s really hard to accept. Even though everybody saw it coming with Ozzy, it just took our breath away when it happened.”
A Farewell from the Rock Family
In a touching Instagram post, Cooper expanded on the tribute: “The whole world is mourning Ozzy tonight. Over his long career, he earned immense respect among his peers and from fans around the world as an unmatched showman and cultural icon. He was and will continue to be a rock n’ roll legend.”
He also reflected on Ozzy’s unique personality: “I always saw Ozzy as a cross between the prince of darkness and the court jester. That was the side that his family and friends saw. Rock and roll is a family and a fraternity. When we lose one of our own, it bleeds.”
Addressing Ozzy’s family, Cooper said: “Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and the rest of the Ozzy brood – our prayers are with you tonight. A titanic boulder has crashed, but rock will roll on.” He signed off, “Rest easy Ozzy and we’ll see you on the other side!” — from Alice and the entire touring crew.
Tributes Across the City
Meanwhile, across London at Wembley Stadium, Liam and Noel Gallagher also paid their respects during an Oasis reunion show. Performing “Rock ‘N’ Roll Star” in front of a giant image of Ozzy, Liam told the crowd: “I want to dedicate this next one to Ozzy Osbourne — Rock ‘N’ Roll Star.”
Reports also emerged that an air ambulance had been called to Ozzy’s country estate, where paramedics fought to save his life. Friends close to the Osbourne family revealed that Sharon Osbourne, devastated and physically frail, may opt for a private funeral on their 350-acre property instead of a public ceremony.
Ozzy Osbourne’s death marks the loss of a true giant in the world of rock music. But as Friday night’s tributes from legends like Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, and the Gallagher brothers showed — his influence, spirit, and legacy are far from gone.
