The Goo Goo Dolls helped kick off 2026 with an unforgettable performance during ABC’s annual Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. The beloved band, fronted by John Rzeznik and Robby Takac, took to the stage with signature energy and nostalgia, delivering a rendition of their timeless hit, “Iris,” that transported fans straight back to the late ’90s.
Despite the song’s original release in 1998, Rzeznik’s vocals sounded as fresh and powerful as ever. As he belted out the iconic line, “I just want you to know who I am,” the crowd joined in, turning the performance into a collective moment of musical magic. It was a heartwarming throwback that struck a chord with longtime fans and new listeners alike.
The Goo Goo Dolls’ appearance was part of a star-studded, eight-hour-long celebration spanning multiple cities, including New York, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Puerto Rico. The event featured an impressive lineup of 39 artists, promising non-stop entertainment to ring in the new year. Headlining the night was the legendary Diana Ross, with hosting duties split between Ryan Seacrest and Rita Ora in New York, Chance the Rapper in Chicago, and Rob Gronkowski and Julianne Hough in Las Vegas.
Other performers included 50 Cent, Charlie Puth, Ciara, Demi Lovato, Chappell Roan, Jessie Murph, Lil Jon, Little Big Town, Mariah Carey, Madison Beer, Maren Morris, Post Malone, and many more. The show aired live from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. ET on ABC.
Leading up to their performance, the Goo Goo Dolls reflected on their journey via Instagram. They shared that it had been 30 years since their first Rockin’ Eve appearance, making this year’s show particularly meaningful. In a video post, Rzeznik highlighted the band’s favorite moment from 2025 — their Summer Anthem Tour with Dashboard Confessional.
“We had all the kids out and stuff,” Takac shared. “It was a lot of fun, man.”
That spirit of joy and camaraderie is continuing into 2026. The Goo Goo Dolls are reuniting with Dashboard Confessional for a Canadian spring tour, followed by a five-show residency at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. After that, they’ll hit the road again for a summer tour alongside Neon Trees, beginning July 24 in Lincoln, California, and wrapping up on September 6 in Uncasville, Connecticut.
