Jack Osbourne Shares the Emotional Story of Telling Ozzy About His Baby Before His Passing

Jack Osbourne has revealed that he was able to share one final piece of joyful news with his father, the legendary Ozzy Osbourne, before the rock icon passed away in July. In a heartfelt interview with The Sun, Jack announced that he and his wife, Aree Gearhart, are expecting their second child together — Jack’s fifth overall.

The couple are already parents to 3-year-old Maple, and Jack shares three daughters — Pearl, 13, Andy, 10, and Minnie, 7 — with his ex-wife, Lisa Stelly. Aree is now seven months pregnant, meaning Ozzy knew he had another grandchild on the way before his death following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

A Healing Moment Amid Loss

Reflecting on the timing of the pregnancy, Jack said:

“I think it’s been partly a healthy distraction, partly healing — probably in that kind of ‘full cycle’ category, in a weird way.”

He explained that the anticipation of a new baby has helped ease some of the weight of grief:

“It’s very much taken energy out of the grieving side of things and parked it in a bit more hopefulness.”

Jack, 40, and Aree, 34, are “super excited” about the pregnancy, admitting that it happened sooner than expected:

“It’s definitely something we were wanting to pursue, and somehow it happened, miraculously.”

Honoring Ozzy on What Would Have Been His 77th Birthday

On December 3, the Osbourne family gathered at Ozzy’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to celebrate his life and legacy on what would have been his 77th birthday. A stunning floral arrangement spelling out “OZZY” adorned the star, along with a heart-shaped display accented with white angel wings.

A wooden plaque beside the flowers read:

“We love you daddy,” signed by four of his children: Louis, Aimee, Kelly, and Jack.

Another plaque, from his widow Sharon Osbourne, held a touching message:

“Happy Birthday my darling. Eternal love, Sharon.”

A Family Rooted in Music, Love, and Complexity

Ozzy Osbourne shared Jack, Aimee, and Kelly with Sharon Osbourne. He also had children Louis, Elliot, and Jessica with his first wife, Thelma Riley.

In an emotional YouTube video posted in September, Jack reflected on the many layers of his father’s personality:

“He was deeply complicated. He was funny, and weird and awkward and clumsy and just hilarious and so insightful.”

Jack also added that Ozzy was far more perceptive than people assumed:

“People may have thought he was checked out, but most of the time he wanted you to think he was checked out. But he was very aware, always.”

As Jack prepares to welcome a new child, his father’s legacy continues to echo through every memory shared, every tribute made, and every life he touched — especially within his own family.
